Hi! My Name Is Podcast
Having a podcast name is an essential part in developing your concept. It’s essentially the first thing people see when they stumble across your show and find you. So how do you create a title that makes people want to listen? Let’s dive in!
When they search in the directory of their respective platform, your podcast name will pop up there. The search results that pop up when people find you are usually a combination of the podcast name and its logo. This is what entices them to give your show a try. Even though a podcast name uses few words, those few words have the ability to make a BIG impact. Ideally, you want a name that gets people to stop scrolling.
A lot of times over not, people choose keywords over creativity. Pretty much all platforms that you host your show on will have a search engine. Choosing a title filled with keywords will help people find your show easier if they’re searching in your niche. They can be placed in the show’s title, description, show notes, and podcast category helping optimize your show for search. But having people find you is only half of the equation. You want them to actually stop and give your podcast a chance. Being creative will grab people’s attention easier and faster. But even with this, keywords are a still important and should not be discounted. Try to come up with a podcast that is creative and if there’s keywords involved, great! If not, it’s not the end of the world.
When creating a podcast title, make sure you’re not sneaking keywords at the end. This could compromise on the creativity of your title and push disinterested people away. To make it simple, come up with the best title for your show and leave the keywords elsewhere. Discussed above are some places to attach keywords.
Take the time and brainstorm as many ideas as possible so there’s time for the good ones to sink in. Don’t think too much when picking a name and certainly don’t judge the ideas you come up with. Once you have a good selection of ideas, pick your favorites and let those sit for a while. Ask for people’s opinion from the ones you trust. If they like what you have, you’re probably on a good track. When you share it ask people what they think the show is about. If they guess something pretty close that’s fantastic. If they’re way off your title may be a way off too.
In the end, make sure you pick a name that excites you! Being happy with your podcast will encourage you to keep going and create new content. But remember to not always judge a podcast by it’s title because the content inside may be more than meets the eye.
